Voter Empowerment

Voter Registration

Clipboard.jpg
  • The Florida Legislature has imposed arduous legal requirements for independent third parties engaged in voter registration (3PVROs), resulting in a chilling effect that discourages these new voter drives.

    • A 3PVRO that fails to meet all of the legal requirements could face penalties up to $250,000. As a result, many independent groups are refusing to register new voters.

  • The Florida Civil Rights Alliance will conduct third-party voter registration efforts throughout Florida, focusing heavily on communities of color and lower socio-economic status.

    • Our state officers will conduct daily calls with our local directors to ensure that all laws and rules are strictly followed.

Voter Outreach

Voters in underserved communities are typically ignored until a month or two before a contested election, which leads to lower voter enthusiasm and lower turnout.

The Florida Civil Rights Alliance will organize and oversee year-round engagement with voters in communities of color and lower socio-economic backgrounds.

FCRA will conduct extensive “listening tours,” ensuring underserved communities are driving the discussion and they themselves are identifying the issues important to their neighborhoods.

Teenagers

FCRA will expand our year-round community engagement efforts to conduct in-person visits to underserved communities and include those issues deemed important to their residents.
